It is important to talk to your child(ren) about adoption from the very beginning. A wonderful way to do that is to read children's stories about adoption. Here are some books we reccommend:

I Wished For You By Marrianne R. Richmond
Oh! The Places You Will Go By Dr. Suess
Tell Me Again About The Night I Was Born By Jamie Lee Curtis
Seed of Love By Mary E. Peteryl
A Mother for Choco By Keiko Kasza
My Family is Forever By Nancy Carlson
The Sea Chest By Toni Buzzeo
I Love You Like Crazy Cakes By Rose Lewis

Another way to find the right words to use in talking to your child about adoption is to join a support group. The Diakon Post Permanency Support Group is in its fourth year. They meet at Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing on the second Tuesday of every month, from 6:30 - 8:00. Please contact facilitator, Christine Smith-Hoh, at 610-682-1510 for information. All post permanency families are welcome, whether they have adopted, are permanency legal custodians or kinship providers. PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING US!
